The common rail unit accumulates the injection pressure level set by the pump. As a result, each injector is supplied with precise, constant injection pressure during the injection process (no pressure drop). Accurate amounts of high pressure fuel are delivered a low engine rpm - unachievable with a conventional injection system. The engine attains efficient fuel consumption compared to total engine output, independent of speed and load. Also engine noise is reduced.

Transmission

AutoQuad Plus transmission: It offers all the features of PowrQuad Plus with the additional benefits of automatic shifting, infinitely adjustable shift point, forward/reverse ratio setting and a programmable maximum gear. The advanced electronic control unit (ECU) measures engine load and rpm to shift up or down automatically among the four powershiftable speeds within each range.

AutoPowr transmission: The transmission is in constant communication with the engine, you can set the AutoPowr to ratio automatically to match changing field and transport conditions. A single lever lets you move smoothly from 0 to 40 or 50 km/h and any speed between. There’s absolutely no clutching required, even to stop.

New Soft Shift feature smoothes out gear shifts

The advanced John Deere engine/ transmission team integrates the engine in shifting operations. The engine throttle is briefly and automatically adjusted to create a smooth shift. This Soft Shift feature makes gear changes less harsh while automatically compensating for loads. It’s standard on both PowrQuad Plus and AutoQuad Plus transmissions, for comfort nearly equal to the AutoPowr transmission. Another example of John Deere innovation that is simple to use.

ECO SHIFT 40 km/h

Save up to 15 % of fuel and reduce engine noise with optional ECO SHIFT. Available for 40K AutoQuad Plus transmissions, the tractor can travel at top transport speeds at a significantly reduced engine rpm.

HMS II

The second generation of HMS can reduce the number of manual tasks you perform by up to 80%. It can help gain you time in the field and ensure your headland operations are as precise at the end of the day as they were when your started your work. For example, with one push of a switch, you can raise the hitch, adjust a hydraulically driven implement, shut off the PTO, disengage the MFWD and turn off the differential lock. All this is done in the sequence you set and the system can repeat the manoeuvres according to a programmed distance. Touch the button again to return to the previous setting - field work has never been that easy or productive!

Compact: The compact design of the new 5020 Series with its low overall height and light weight enables this versatile tractor to be used in many different farming applications.

Cab Comfort: Both standard and low profile cabs are designed and finished to give the driver an open, spacious feeling. Controls are logically placed, with ergonomic design.

Transmission
The PowrQuad 16/16 transmission features two lever shifting, with four powershiftable gears across four ranges. A mechanical left hand power reverser makes direction changes easy, with a forward/reverse ratio of 1:1.

The PowrQuad Plus 16/16 transmission has four ranges with four powershiftable gears, one lever shifting, an electronic reverser lever, a tiltable dash-board and automatic speed matching after range shift.

Both transmissions offer an optional underdrive unit, for additional 16/16 speeds from 1.5 -17 km/h.
